Property Information
Your Bathroom
We strive to be environmentally conscious without compromising on luxury or quality. One of our biggest challenges here on the coast is water conservation; to that end, we have installed dual flush toilets and restricted flow showerheads in all of our baths. In your shower, we have selected for you a collection of EO bath amenities and plush cotton towels for your comfort and indulgence.
Firepit
To light the firepit, open the knob on the propane gas tank that is next to the fire pit. Turn the timer knob while holding the flame from the lighter provided next to the metal ring in the fire pit. Propane will ignite and you may adjust the timer to the desired time.
Phones
Cell phone reception is limited on the Northern coast, and most guests will only receive service while in town. There is a guest phone at the office that you are welcome to use for any local, long-distance, or room service calls. You can also give out our number (707-937-5339) as a contact number during your stay and we will take and deliver messages. We do recommend downloading WhatsApp! before your arrival so that you\’ll be able to use the WiFi for texts and calls.
Check-out
Check-out time is 11:00 am. We ask that this time be respected for our incoming guests. An additional charge of a full night’s stay may be assessed for a late check-out.
DVD Player
To operate the DVD player turn on the TV then turn on the DVD player and insert the DVD. Push the TV/Video button on the TV remote control or push the source button located on the top of the TV until the desired source is selected. Select Video 1 from the menu that appears for DVD. Select TV from the same menu to return to cable television.
Medical Assistance
If you have an emergency, please call 911. If you have no phone service, there is a phone right outside the office door for your assistance. Our street address is 7051 North Highway 1 in Little River. If the desk is closed, please call our after-hours manager by dialing 707-937-2859 and let them know what cottage you are in and they will be there to help direct personnel to you.
Fire Extinguishers
There is a fire extinguisher located underneath the kitchen sink.
Fireplaces & Heat
The fireplace in your cottage is also your heat source and is controlled by the thermostat on the wall. Simply turn up the heat to turn on the fireplace or down to turn it off. You can also set the thermostat to your desired temperature and the fireplace will come on as needed to maintain the temperature. Turning the thermostat all the way down will prevent the fireplace from producing heat. The glass front will stay warm for quite some time.
Housekeeping
During the COVID-19 Mendocino County Order, in-room housekeeping service will not be provided. If you need additional towels or other amenities, please text your innkeeper at 707-335-7912 and your items will be delivered using our contact-less methods.
Internet Access
For the convenience of our guests, the Cottages offer high-speed Wi-Fi systems for you to log on to. Depending on where you are on the property, you can log into any network that has “Cottages” in the title. Wi-Fi password for all connections: Mendocino (with the capital “M”)
Hair Dryer, Iron & Ironing Board
These items can be requested from your innkeeper.
Kitchens
All kitchens are fully equipped with dishware, glassware, flatware, cookware, and small appliances. The dish soap is located on the kitchen sink. There is a fire extinguisher and garbage, recycling bins underneath the kitchen sink. Your choice of Salt, Pepper, Oil, Teas, and Coffees will be left in your room upon arrival.
Laundry
The closest Laundromat to the cottages is in Fort Bragg. We recommend Lucy’s on Main Street, next to CVS.
Front Desk Hours
The office (at the Inn at Schoolhouse Creek, a mile down the road at 7051 North Highway 1) is open from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm unless otherwise posted. If you need assistance after hours call the emergency number posted on the office door or text the innkeeper’s number that we have provided.
Smoking
The entire property is non-smoking. Smoking is not permitted in any of our rooms or cottages; you will be charged a minimum of $275 to restore the room/cottage if smoke is detected in the room.
Sleeper Sofa
The living room couch contains a suspension style queen bed. The bedsheets are already on the bed. The pillows and comforter are in the coffee table chest. Please follow the directions to fold the couch back up. If you need assistance, please ask a Cottages team member.
Trash
If you need to empty your trash before you depart, you may take it to the dumpster at the south-east corner of the property. You will find additional bags in the bottom of the wastebasket. You may also dispose of dog waste at the dumpster or at the dog waste station. Please do not leave garbage of any kind on the decks of the cottages. There are wild animals with an appetite that would love to snack on your leftovers.
