Van Damme State Park
The park features the lush Fern Canyon scenic trail system; the Pygmy Forest where mature, cone-bearing cypress and pine trees stand six inches to eight feet tall; and the bog, or Cabbage Patch, where skunk cabbage grows in abundance. The park's ten miles of trail go along the fern-carpeted canyon of Little River. A paved road is used by joggers and bicyclists. The beach is popular with abalone divers.

Glass Beach
Glass Beach is one of the unique beaches in the world because of the high concentration of glass worn smooth and polished by the pounding waves. | |
Point Cabrillo Lighthouse
The Point Cabrillo Preserve includes the historic 1909 Light Station (30.5 acres), and approximately 270 acres of undeveloped coastal bluffs and prairie. This is one of the most unique lighthouses in the United States. Enjoy the Lighthouse, visit the Lightkeepers Museum, and view the beautiful tide pool aquarium.

Skunk Train
Except for the passengers' high-tech cameras and modern garb, a time traveler from the last century would feel quite at home riding Sierra Railroad's Skunk Train today. The slow moving trains pull covered cars as well as open observation cars -- perfect for capturing photographs of the truly exhilarating journey.
